About Chiro

How Does Chiropractic Work?

The main causes of joint dysfunction are mechanical, chemical, and mental. Mechanical causes are referred to as micro or macro trauma. Micro trauma can also be called repetitive stress injury. Sitting with poor posture at a desk and typing all day can cause problems such as carpal tunnel or neck, upper back, or low back pain. Macro trauma refers to pain due to trauma to the body, such as a fall, a break, or a car crash. Both forms of mechanical causes of joint dysfunction can benefit immensely from chiropractic care. Another cause of joint dysfunction is due to the chemical effects on the joint function and the body as a whole. Smoking, heavy drinking, and poor diet can create chemical imbalances in the body.

Chiropractic helps to remove postural imbalances and structural misalignments that can accumulate in our bodies over time. Chiropractic works by restoring your own inborn ability to be healthy. For your body to remain healthy, your nervous system must function well. For your nervous system to function well it must be free of interference. By restoring spinal function with Chiropractic adjustments, nerve interference by misaligned vertebrae is removed, thus allowing optimal nervous system function and improved health.

The customized care you receive from your chiropractor may help to improve your posture, muscle balance and mobility. It can also restore the integrity of your nervous system and get rid of pain quickly, so you can get back to feeling good!

Instrument Adjusting - The Wave of the Future

Certain people with conditions such as osteropororis can safely and readly be adjusted with an instrument.

Patients in severe acute pain can be adjusted easier with an instrument.

An adjusting instrument is very specific. Once again, this isn't to suggest that techniques not involving an adjusting instrument aren't specific. However, I also use my hands to adjust some patients and there's little doubt in my mind that when I use my adjusting instrument I'm being more specific.

It's great using an adjusting instrument on pediatric patients and pets. I adjust my family's necks with an adjusting instrument. And while there are still some children who are afraid of getting adjusted with my instrument, most are "brave enough" to let me try. Once they go through their first adjustment and realize it doesn't hurt they can relax even more for their next adjustment.

Instrument adjusting works so well on pets that seminars are taught to chiropractors and vetenarians on how to adjust animal's with an instrument.

Some patients who are terrifed of going to a chiropractor can utilize instrument adjusting as a great alternative to spinal manipulation.

The three instruments utilitzed by Dr. Fitzpatrick are the Atlas Orthogonal Percussive Instrument, the Activator Instrument, and Dr. Brimhall's Variable Adjuster.
